Some friends came over to our place with their new baby. Unfortunately, the baby had a diaper leak of the #2 kind on our futon. We treated the spot quickly with spot stain remover, but I don't think it really helped. What is a good way to get rid of the stain
and any odor? (hopefully we don't have to toss the futon cushion out it's only a small stain)

I don't really have another answer beyond what everyone else has suggested so far. Other than to maybe call in a professional cleaning service, the kind that cleans your carpets and furniture. I'm sure they could get it out. Not sure how much it will cost you though.

I just wanted to say I love how you refer to this as a "diaper malfunction", it's cute :)

Good Luck!

I have several items of clothing that resist all manner of scrubbing to some of my daughter's own 'diaper malfunctions' as you nicely put it... I actually looked at your ? to see what the answers were. I wish you luck, but I wouldnt think you'd need to toss out the cushion because of this. It's on the mattress itself and not just the mattress cover? I spilled hot chocolate on our ours, and so I had to flip it over so as to hide my clumsiness. Perhaps a little flip would to the trick for you too?

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your couch! I had the same thing happen on my couch with a permanent marker! I surfed the net like a mad woman, but nothing worked. I finally tried the colorox bleach pen. It took the stain right out! I'm not sure what kind you tried.

I paid about $4.50 for mine, but I was surfing the freebies today and I saw a link to get one for free!

BIZ, it's the best stuff I have three toddlers and I used to be a CHef (tons of stains) if gets anything out. Just mix Biz with hot water scrub with a tooth brush.

Most baby detergents are strong enough for those kind of stains. Rub a little on the stain and rinse it with water...it works for their clothes, I can't see why it wouldn't work for your furniture.

A mild solution of Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and warm water will take care of your problem. Let it soak for a minute or so, then rub in gentle circles. Rinse with warm water.

If the cover does not come off you may need to rent a carpet cleaner if you don't have your own. Try Resolve Foam first. Carpet foams work pretty good on couches

Oxy clean. Get some of the powder and scrub it with a toothbrush and then let it sit for a few minute and wipe it clean.
