In the original version Jesus was born to a working class family in an occupied territory at the far reach of a powerful empire. A powerful ruler fearing the child's potential threat to his power forced the family to flee into exile. Where could there be a modern equivalent to that scenario?

Well, he wouldn't be. This is part of the point. His birth was timed as it was for a specific reason. His birthplace was situated in a certain place for a specific reason.

no ...assuming jesus was an actual person... most of the stories about his life are not factual... eg... flying up into the clouds, and other supernatural stories

it should be israel. but the land grabers won't allow that. first they kill jesus and then steal the land from the arabs
