There is a severe shortage of perfect white babies available for adoption. There are lots of perfect black babies out there, but the system resists cross-racial adoptions.

On the other hand, there are lots of children of color, or with disabilities in the foster care system, but no one wants these.

The anti-abortion whackos don't give a damn about babies once they are born, and in fact, seem very happy to step over their bodies. "Better a million unwanted babies die than one unwanted baby get aborted." seems to be their mantra.

Adoption isn't exactly an easy process; sometimes the state you live in can be a real red-tape-monster about it.

I have family that have taken in foster children, and tried to adopt them, after the babies were SAVAGELY abused by their "natural" parents. The state continuously TRIES to give the kids back to the people that beat them black and blue! You would think the child protective service people WANTED these kids to end up dead! They have had a lot of heartbreak; both the would-be parents, and the kids caught in the system.

However that may be, there are still some of us willing to try. When I can, I intend to try.

Many have. But there is usually a waiting list for very young children and babies in the US. I do know a number of people who have adopted kids from abroad instead... China and Russia.
I have also spoken to people who are concerned about adopting children in the US because the courts are so unpredictable. A few years ago, a judge in my state overturned a legal adoption of 4 or 5 years in favor of the birth mother (she kicked her drug habit). Loosing a child to a legality after so many years would be a heartbreak that I wouldn't know how to bear.

Hoping the best for you...

You would think considering how hard we push to stop abortion we would spend our assets on these rather than large ornate sanctuarias. Such sanctuaries would be ok after those you mention were cared for but you know those leading the group are not subjected to any type of accountability as the scripture directs they should be. Mat 18 and the letters to TIM.

don't listen to this adoption costs crap cuz Churches are big enough to get liciensed and distribute these if they desired to do so. If they can get a president elected and send misionaries all over the world they certainly could make the unwanted children in their own country comfortable.

You don’t think they do?

Many do! Many would like to adopt more, but the adoption process can be extremely difficult.

Also, for a whole bunch of reasons, not
every home may be appreciate for children, particularly those with special needs. That’s just reality because so many people are going through their own crisis either medical, emotional or financial.

Please try not to be so judgmental, particularly considering all the wonderful efforts many Christians make on behalf of unwanted children. Some of us wish we could adopt them all.

Yes, you are right. If all the anti-abortionist would
spend half the energy and money, that they do
on their holier than thou crusade, we would have
very few children living in foster care and waiting to
be adopted. Abortion is not the answer either.
We should all take care of our own, before we
point accusing fingers at others.
Religion has nothing to do with loving
and caring for your fellow man (child).

Note to above answers: You are right, God does not live in
these so called "Houses of God". He is within all of us.
Can you imagine what the Vatican and all the other Churches
could do with all that money - no poor, neglected children or families living in slums.
And enough left over for good education for all.

II agree with the man who said that about all the money spent on these big cathedrals and temples. Huge salaries for the preachers. They could support thousands of baby's with the money they make but I don't know of any orphanages they have built or homes for unwanted children.
Hospitals to care for them or even to help with the adoptions.
However, they all have fancy houses and multi-million dollar mansions. Fleets of jets and cars with chauffures.
Why don't they do something good with all that money.

Because adoption costs a lot of money plus they might already be forking out lots of it already if they have their own.
My uncle has adopted and it's a complete hassle trying to get them to certify it! If they made it a bit more simple and accessible people might be more inclined to do it.........

It is a wonderful idea, but it is harder to adopt an American baby, or child than it is to adopt a baby or child from over seas.

Does any other group adopt more? Who told you they don't?
