Unless her dentist has serious problems with his sinuses or nasal passage, he probably already knows she has bad breath. By asking this question, you are communicating that you believe there are other people in the world with this problem who have been able to deal with it. Perhaps your dentist (whom we will presume already knows about your bad breath) would have suggestions, but he is waiting for you to ask.

It might not be from her teeth. Most bad breath (halitosis) is caused from bacteria on the tongue. Tell her to buy some antiseptic mouthwash and a tough scraper from the local pharmacy and try that a couple of times a day. If that doesn't work, the doctor or dentist will be able to give her something stonger or pinpoint if there's an underlying problem.

Apart from the mouth bad breath can be caused by a stomach problem. If she has seen her dentist and her teeth/gums are in good order she needs to see a doctor.

if she is too embarassed to talk to her dentist, he must not be a good dentist. He is the only one that can tell her what is the problem. Over the counter she can buy a tongue cleaner and use it atleast two times a day. Also use mouthrinse at least twice a day as well. If this does not work, you need, I mean, she needs to talk to her dentist.

Well, she should see a dentist.........maybe she has the beginning of a gum problem????? if not she needs to see a MD to see about possible stomach, throat problem???? Bad breath means something. If it is a gum problem, this is what I am now using, and I swear by it! http://www.oramd.com?kbid=2141. This will give her great breath, and heal her gums if that is the problem???? Brushing too hard can cause the gums to bleed, and that can smell..........good luck to her!

I would say your *friend* should talk to her dentist even though it may be embarising it will help a lot. She should keep mint tic-tacs in her purse (mint is the strongest) and she should rinse her mouth with mint listerine, but she should really talk to her dentist it will help.
