His feast day is the 29th of September. I believe. In order to report an accurate account of the Catholic Faith, St. Michael the Archangel is called a saint because he is a being in communion with God the Father in Heaven. He also had the free will to reject God and did not. Also he is one of the four Angels known to man by name. The other three are Gabriel, Raphael, and the fallen Lucifer.

Saint Michael is one of only three angels to be venerated (the other two are Gabriel and Raphael).
Michael was thought to have appeared during a plague in Rome, gathering the souls of those who had died. This may the origin of the spiritual song "Michael Row the Boat Ashore" and may be the reason he is the patron saint of death or of those in danger of dying.
He is also known as a warrior saint, who protected soldiers and provided victory over the forces of evil. He was often invoked by military leaders as a sign of having God on their side.
In art, he is usually shown with a sword, battling or standing in victory over a dragon, snake or Satan.

Which one? There was a St. Michael who was a disciple of St. Tarasius and died c. 820, and there was St. Michael of Chernigov, died 1246. No known birth dates for either.
