That is a sign of kidney failure. I'd have him checked by a vet.

Don't worry about the not eating at the moment.

Presumably he has eaaten normally and now has stopped.

Check his tempeture,

See if he is in pain anywhere - tenderness etc

Not eating and drinking a lot are signs of ILLNESS.

Could be many things - bladder/urinary infection
diabetes (yes dogs get that too)
leptospiriosis (if you didn't vaccinate for
it of the vaccine didn't take with him)
infectious illness
kidney disease
Cancer - some types

ALL OF THESE WILL HAVE THE SYMPTOMS OF INCREASED WATER CONSUMPTION AND LOSS OF APPETITE

There are undoubtedly some more illness that are less common that I left off the list.

Blood work and a urinanalysis will have to be done.

This is NOT a 'get him to eat problem' - this is a CALL THE VET problem.

If the whites of his eyes start to get a yellow tinge that is called jaundice. VET ER NOW

i've got reported this formerly, she will in basic terms administration lots. How long has she been in foster care? perhaps she's no longer inquiring for her foster mom via fact she has found out that inquiring for mom gets her no longer something. As for potty coaching, i'll tell you what I instructed my daughter, who's having the comparable subject together with her 3 year. previous daughter. - She is acquainted with the thank you to apply the potty, yet would not understand the thank you to correctly known the indicators while she is distracted with the help of alternative issues. set up nutrients and snacks in a chart and placed a megastar after she eats. So she will see the chart filling up. set up yet another chart for your self - to remind you to tell her to flow to the potty and attempt, in spite of if she would not go till you get the rhythm of her toileting desires. Thirty minutes after ingesting/ ingesting and each a million a million/2 to 2 hrs. ought to do it.

These can be symptoms of many different issues, including kidney problems. Whatever the problem is, it seems like it would be serious, so the best advice I could give is to take your dog to the vet asap. At the very least, call the vet and describe your dog's symptoms to them.

First I would take the dog to the vet but what you need to do is try easing him on dog food soaked in water little bits at a time. After a while you can start giving him more food but continue to soak it water decreasing the soaking time by small incraments. It will take a while but it will probably work.

Sounds like a kidney problem. I hope it's not. Go to the vet immediately. Does he pee as much as he drinks? Check that too.

Trick or Treat is correct. My female boxer was acting the same way and after about 2 days we took her to the doctor. It turned out she had tried to eat one of my daughter's jelly-plastic-stretchy-toy-thingy... yes - that's the technical term and I'm sticking to it. They were able to remove it with surgery, and now she's fine.

The symptoms you describe can lead to many different diagnosis.

Good Luck!!!

NYGroomer is right. It sounds like your dog has a serious problem.

I know it is the weekend and most vets are not open. Have you tried feeding him plain boiled chicken or plain white rice? These are o.k. to feed a dog who has poor appetite, until you can get to the vet.

Good luck!

Try feeding him wet food, preferably those little packets of IAMS. The bits of food are quite small, but high in nutrients and quite watery.

He's pretty old for a Rott, so get him looked at for digestive failure or dental problems.

Take it to the vet, you could also try switching his food maybe your not feeding him senior food. Older dogs need special foods because they require different vitamins than much younger dogs.
