Yes, even a single person on a low wage can claim. You should be able to claim for working family tax credit, help with council tax and maybe help with rent/mortgage payments. Anyway the worst they can do is say no, so always apply.

Yes, I am a single mum to one child and get tax credits. You must be working 16 hours or more and if you work over 30 hours you get an extra bonus as well. I also still get help with rent and council tax and they will also pay 70% of your childcare. It is definately better for you financially if you work with 1 child but i don't know any info if you have more than 1 child

Depends on how much you earn, but as working tax credits go up to a family income of around 50k (at varing rates), you should be OK. Get on and claim, the worst they can say is no :-)

Yes, there are two elements as they call them. You should get them both and there is also a childcare element if you work more than 16 hours a week. Depending on your earnings it might not be worthwile unless you can get nanny to do the babysitting. You need to sit down and work it out. I think i got my original application pack from the benefits offfice.

Yes you can, but it depends on how much money you are bringing in and how much you get off your ex. You need to contact tax credits. They will work it out for you. From Mandy.

yes you get working tax credit when working over 16hr week and as long as your income is under (i think) £15000 year (which i feel is a stupid amount) you can get child tax credit as well which goes up to a household income of around 50k, good luck
