• In Num. 5:11-31, God commands a husband to get an abortion for his wife if he suspects she has been impregnated by another man. A priest is to make her drink a potion and tell her, "If any man other than your husband has had intercourse with you, may the LORD make an example of you . . . by bringing upon you miscarriage and untimely birth."

and please don't use the God is against any abolition of human life, because he commands the killing of just a few people....even his own son!

Youre right, that passage only has instructions for putting a CURSE on someone with a POTION that a special PRIEST mixes up. Is this the Bible, or Witchcraft again?

Sweetheart, God didn't command any specific abortion. He gave instructions for what to do if a woman was thought to be unfaithful with another man. And what translation are you using that contains the word "miscarriage"?

Well, Hhhmmmm, this passage takes place in Numbers. Soooo, this was written to God's chosen people while He was with them. And the potion would not work if there had been no adultery. Drinking a potion required by God would hardly be called an abortion. Because if the woman did not miscarry, then everything would remain as is. This is not an abortion but a procedure to expose sin. Today when a woman goes for an abortion-they do not ask if she has sinned, no-they ask if she has the money! Lots of difference wouldn't you say??

This is not an abortion. Its inquiring of a suspected unfaithful wife. This scripture explains the ritual when confronting a suspected unfaithful wife. If she is guilty then she will be cursed and the lord will bring to pass the curse. if not she will avoid the curse. remember adultry at that time was punished by stoning. Interesting question. What vrsion are you reading because my bible doesnt say "potion" or "miscarriage".

The answer to this question is going to vary depending on who you ask. Even within the same church community, you will get different answers on this.

However, I would argue to say that God's sacrifice of his own son was just that: a sacrifice. Whereas a woman getting an abortion is commonly done for selfish reasons, i.e. she does not want to have a baby, or she does not want to have a baby with a difficult illness.

I think it depends on motive much more so than the act itself.

Children are a gift from God it is sad that so many people think of them as curse's or burdens but as far as Jesus dieing he died for our sins and he rose again on the third day these souls that are aborted before they can breath the air don't have that opportunity we are held accountable for our sins and we are not to judge or condemn our brothers or sisters for there's for none of us are with out sin we have all fallen short of the glory of God life is a gift we are only here for awhile but there is life after death and this is our training ground to determine where we spend eternity.

Against. Read Psalm 139 and you will see just how precious God considers life to be.

And his Son died because we sinned against God, and there was no other way for our sin debt to be paid *except* through Christ's sacrificial death on the cross. And Christ died *volitionally*. He said that he has the right to lay down his life and to pick it up again. Not only that, but he told Peter, after Peter slashed off the ear of a soldier when Jesus was arrested, that he could call down legions of angels and they would come to his rescue immediately. But if that had happened, even today, there would be no hope of heaven for anyone wanting to go there after they died. And that would be tragic.

i'm confused. i just went and read that entire passage in numbers, and it never mentions anything about miscarriage or untimely birth. and the "potion" is nothing more than holy water.

and the bible has no problem with abortion, provided it is not used as a method of family planning. if the life of the mother is in danger, it is in fact obligatory for her to have an abortion to save her life, no matter how late she is in the pregnancy

Find something in the bible that is FOR something that fundamentalists are against, and they will say you are reading the wrong version, or there are contradictory passages elsewhere.

Find something the bible is against that the fundamentalists are also against, but you may be for, and they will say the bible must be taken literally, and that there are no real contradictions when you read the right versions.

So you can never really use the bible as a reference when, ironically, you are debating with the very adherents to its teachings and doctrine.

11Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
12"Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'If any man's wife (A)goes astray and is unfaithful to him,

13and a man has (B)intercourse with her and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and she is undetected, although she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act,

14if a spirit of (C)jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife when she has defiled herself, or if a spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife when she has not defiled herself,

15the man shall then bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring as an offering for her one-tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense on it, for it is a grain offering of jealousy, a grain offering of memorial, (D)a reminder of iniquity.

16'Then the priest shall bring her near and have her stand before the LORD,

17and the priest shall take holy water in an earthenware vessel; and he shall take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water.

18'The priest shall then have the woman stand before the LORD and let the hair of the woman's head go loose, and place the grain offering of memorial in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy, and in the hand of the priest is to be the water of bitterness that brings a curse.

19'The priest shall have her take an oath and shall say to the woman, "If no man has lain with you and if you have not (E)gone astray into uncleanness, being under the authority of your husband, be immune to this water of bitterness that brings a curse;

20if you, however, have (F)gone astray, being under the authority of your husband, and if you have defiled yourself and a man other than your husband has had intercourse with you"

21(then the priest shall have the woman (G)swear with the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman), "the LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people by the LORD'S making your thigh waste away and your abdomen swell;

22and this water that brings a curse shall go into your stomach, and make your abdomen swell and your thigh waste away." And the woman (H)shall say, "Amen. Amen."

23'The priest shall then write these curses on a scroll, and he shall wash them off into the water of bitterness.

24'Then he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings a curse, so that the water which brings a curse will go into her and cause bitterness.

25'The priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy from the woman's hand, and he shall wave the grain offering before the LORD and bring it to the altar;

26and (I)the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorial offering and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the woman drink the water.

27'When he has made her drink the water, then it shall come about, if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, that the water which brings a curse will go into her and cause bitterness, and her abdomen will swell and her thigh will waste away, and the woman will become (J)a curse among her people.

28'But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will then be free and conceive children.

29'This is the law of jealousy: when a wife, being under the authority of her husband, (K)goes astray and defiles herself,

30or when a spirit of jealousy comes over a man and he is jealous of his wife, he shall then make the woman stand before the LORD, and the priest shall apply all this law to her.

31'Moreover, the man will be free from guilt, but that woman shall (L)bear her guilt.'"

Theese verses?

Obortion is actually a latest advance in medical science,but forceful miscaridge is mentioned,Which is actually very very very Dangerious.But well morals and common sence tells you that obortion is forbidden unless its a matter of the womans health or some other justification.But why should an innocent child be punished for what its mother did,i might be crazy but isnt that morally wrong?
