Your doctor SHOULD have told you it takes 6-8 weeks to get the full effect of any antidepressant medication. Don't expect miracles in a day or so - or even 9 or 10. Medications don't work the same for different people, so, if after a month or so you're not feeling much better, talk to the doctor about switching.

Wait. AD's takes time to kick in and then level off. Whenever you adjust the dose, it may again take a couple weeks for you body to adjust and the med to level off. It sounds like your doc is slowly taking you to a dose that will work for you. In a month from now, if you feel some improvement but still not back to normal, you may need to bump the dose up higher. If in a month you feel nothing but tired, that's the time to talk to your doc about trying something different. Frustrating as it may seem, patience is required. Btw, a lot of side effects are the worst during that ramp up period and might diminish or go away after a few weeks - depends on the person.

I was put on Zoloft and didn't like the lack of libido. My sex drive went down to nothing!!!! I did quit taking the Zoloft and got on Lexapro with Xanax. It does take about 4-6 weeks before you will really see any affect from the Zoloft. It has to be in your system. I don't have much of a sex drive on the Lexapro, but at 30 some is better than none. Good Luck.

It can take up to six weeks for the full benefits of Serotonin Levelers to adjust. Everyone expects to pop a pill and feel better. Not being rude but it probably took more than a couple of weeks to get depressed enough to have to seek out help. Give it a little time.

Zoloft is well tolerated and effective for the treatment of depression and certain types of anxiety disorders
Contact your doctor promptly if you have any of the following side effects, especially if they are new symptoms or if they get worse: mood changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability, agitation, aggressiveness, severe restlessness, mania (mental and/ or physical hyperactivity), thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
· seizure (convulsions);
· tremors, shivering, muscle stiffness or twitching;
· problems with balance or coordination; or
· agitation, confusion, sweating, fast heartbeat.
• Other less serious side effects are more likely to occur, such as:
· feeling nervous, restless, or unable to sit still;
· drowsiness, dizziness, weakness;
· sleep problems (insomnia);
· nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight; or
· decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

I have heard that this drug takes a while to work. My brother is on it and he told me he didn't start feeling better until a couple of weeks. I would give it some time, if you find after 2 to 3 weeks, you are still not feeling better, then I would definitely switch medications.. Good luck to you, I hope you are feeling better soon.

It can take several weeks to feel better from any antidepressent, so I'd wait and see what happens.
