i'm already aware that most clocks are sold showing those times, and i'm pretty sure i know why, but no one believes me. can anyone point me to a proper source?

i've already spent over an hour searching online, with no positive results

i always thought it's just because those times look the best, don't obscure anything, and it saves on the battery. i used to work in a jewelry department and we always pulled out the pins and set the same time on all the watches; no other reasons were given.

It's a marketing thing...the manufacturers want the watches to look like they're "smiling"...no lie!

i read years ago that its because it shows a face (of sorts) and makes the watch seem freindly and phsycologicaly induces the reader to buy it....
