hes a ******* 2 year old!!! u use baby steps!! start in the shallow end of the pool and let him get his feet under him. ur forcing him to swim when he doesnt even know how to float! u have to crawl before u can walk. and make the punishment fit the crime, just cuz he cant swim ur makin him stay out of the playground? i dont think thats wise. try changing places with him. put urself in a place where ur in the deep end of a very big pool and ur only reinforcement, ur mom, is keeping u in it. ur scared and paniced and frightened.

You are going to put him off swimming forever!! He's 2!! Relax and wait for him to be ready...get him some swimming lessons... but STOP what you are doing..its not the way to teach him to start swimming. Before a child can swim in the water they need to learn how to love and relax in the water.. find a reputable swim school in your area...and pay somebody else to do what you dont have the patience for.

Throwing a child into a pool is not good and is not the way to teach him to swim.

My gosh woman you've got to step back and think about what you're doing! Your son needs to trust you and you are not facilitating any type of trust whatsoever by throwing this dependent young being into deep water which will drown him should he inhale!
Do they use this technique at your local swim center? Doubtful. They teach technique, holding your breath, strokes, etc... and after each time of practicing such things they praise.
You're making a HUGE mistake by demonstrating how untrustworthy you are - you're son clearly knows already that Mommy is not his safe haven - she doesn't harmful things that scare me and I can't trust her.
Whose your mentor? If there isn't someone with knowledge about parenting in your circle - please seek out some parenting books in your christian bookstore. -rsb-

You're doing the right thing, and don't let anyone tell you differently - though I've got a feeling they will! What you need to do is firstly put swimming goggles on his face so that nobody can tell he's crying, and it'll explain why his eyes are so red after he takes them off. Next you need to cut the screaming out as that will attract most attention and embarrassment for you as the other parents realise what a loser your kid is turning into. The best thing to do is to wake him up early that morning and then continuously frighten him for about an hour. If you do the job right, he will have put so much strain on his vocal chords that he won't even be able to whisper, let alone scream. You're doing it for his own good and I wish there were more understanding fathers like you around. My dad used to use Prozac on me at the pool to keep me quiet, the only good thing about it was that when I was drowning I didn't really care. Good luck with it.

all you've managed to accomplish is to make him afraid of the water.you have to get them comfortable around the water and make THEM WANT to learn how to swim! quit pushing him into it.this is how i tought my kids...we'd get in the shallow end where they can sit on a step or somwhere they feel safe.then you take off and swim and show them how fun it is to hold your breath under water and stuff.show off a little!i promise they will want to get in the deep water with you and the fear will all float away.just don't push,be patient!!! and good luck,it worked on all 4 of my kids, they could all swim like fish in the deep water before they were 2!

He is just a baby. You are a jerk. You may just push him sooooo far that he will never want to swim. What is the matter with you???? Why are you so obsessive about him learning to swim? Some kids take to it faster then others. Get a grip and STOP SCARING HIM!!!

baby steps. have him jump off the edge to you in the water to catch him. help him to learn how to float on his back.. the hold his belly and make him do a swimming motion and walk him to the side. 2 is kinda young in my book but that's a personal choice just take it slow and always in courage and praise him for the good job he is doing before long he will be a swimmer

This my friends is evidence what crack and cocaine will do to a baby, when they get older. I'm thinking either your a complete idiot looking to get a reaction from strangers, or your mother hated you so much that tied you up and kept you in the "bad spot" all day long.
Either way, your still a friggin' idiot.
Someone call CPS on this bunghole.

You should not have a child. You need someone to push you under the water and leave you there. I just wish Yahoo would report you to the police. Swimmimg is not the issue here. Your cruelty to a small child is.
