I would use a stain instead of paint. It would give you color but not cover the look of the wood. You can get stain in many colors now not just wood colors. You can also use an acrylic paint and water it down and just wipe it on.Stain or the watered down acrylic will be a muted color but really nice.Try a little in a hidden space to see if you like the effect. You would not lose the integrity of the log home but you would would have some natural colors by using dark greens, russet, yellows, tans, browns, blues, etc. Anything that is the color of nature. Trees, wood, lake, animals, rocks, sun, etc.You will have to pick a color or colors to go with your furnishings .Since I don't know what you have, I can't suggest colors.Best wishes and remember to make a good choice that is basic and will go with many decor colors in the furnishings because the stain or paint will penetrate the wood and be very hard to remove !You may want to choose a different color of furniture some day.
