Wow! People will say anything whether they know what they are talking about or not!
It all depends on whether or not it's a "pre cooked ham" which then only requires warming in a 250 degree oven for about 15-20 minutes per pound.
If it's a raw piece of fresh ham (not pre cooked) then it's more like a 350 degree oven 25-35 minutes per pound.
Never put a piece of meat in the microwave! What a total waste that would be! Use your conventional oven!
For the best results-read the cooking instructions and follow them. Or you can check your cook book for proper times and cooking instructions.

The Joy Of Cooking should be your first cook book to start off! I love this cook book and I know many other chefs and cooks that feel the same about that cook book. Also, you should purchase a crock pot (for crock pot meals) and along with it, purchase a crock-pot cooking book. Crock pot meals are simple, helpful, and delicious! They're helpful for those who work 8 or more hour shifts, because you can leave the crock pot on the whole time. Ground Beef is versatile and helpful... you can start off with aside from tacos, making sloppy joe's, burgers, meatballs, etc. Pasta is also pretty simple, you know with the whole mechanism of boiling =) You don't need to go out and buy tons of cook books because there are plenty of recipes online! However, to get you started, The Joy Of Cooking would be your best bet!

Well, thaw it out first, overnight or in the microwave. Most if not ALL hams are now pre cooked or smoked, so all you have to do it pre-heat them. The package should have the temps and times on it, so read them after youve taken it off or before.............Most pork products are safer now than they used to be years ago.

Leave it to thaw overnight then tomorrow morning bung it in a low temp oven with some carrots and stock. It'll cook all day and be nice and tender by teatime.

I'd thaw it in the fridge overnight, then the next day put it in the crockpot with a couple cups of water and veggies of choice. It'll be so tender!
