what is the best way to start a book?

should i start it off with a question, or should i give description?

What kind of book? Fiction? Non-fiction? Personal experiences?
Look in others' book that you like. They will give you ideas of how to start writing a book.

It seems some of the best were descriptions: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." and "It was a dark and stormy night..."

well you can take a clue from snoopy... "it was a dark and stormy night....."
