"para" translates to "in order to" in English. Para hacerlo asi means In order to do it like that, for example. "Por" translates to "in exchange for". Dame dos por uno means, give me two for one. It's tricky. Just keep questioning it to a native every time you're unsure. That's the best way to understand the nuances.
