I've always been curious about that.
God is supposedly omnipotent. That means he can do ANYTHING.
God didn't want us to be robots, so he gave us free will. Supposedly, this free will is our problem -- we choose to sin.
Why could a god who can do ANYTHING not just give us free will in such a way that we would never sin? He can do anything, after all...

God hasent punished anyone yet. Accept for the flood, and Sodom and Gomorahh. He worned us that in the last days, we would be living like in those days. so he will come when every one is going about there business as usual, and jugde the living and the dead all at once. every one who has ever lived. It is not odd that God gave us free will. If we didn't have it, then how could we any different from an animal, that does everything based on survival. God gave us his breath of life, which i consider our spirit. The only punishing going on right now, are the consequences that mankind has created itself. We punish others and we punish ourselves. And if you believe in God, you know there is a devil who likes to influence you too. We wouldn't be involved in the spiritual war if eve didn't bite the apple in the first place. That then made us aware of good and evil. Theres a plan involved, and we are told in the Bible about it.

Every man has a free will. They can believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for their sins or they can reject Him. How would you feel if you let your son come to earth and die for the sins of the world and then people reject that. That is why God created hell for those that reject what He done on the cross. Philippians 2: 6 Who, being Philippians 2: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Philippians 2: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

It seems odd that I keep saying free will and people keep asking these questions.
The will itself is free, but as soon as it is willed, it becomes tangled in forces. For example, at any time you are free to either jump, or not jump, but as soon as you do gravity will pull you down.
So, if you have a gun, you are free to pull the trigger or not to pull the trigger, if you do, then the velocity of the bullet tearing into your victim might be considered to be caused by God, based on the belief that God is all forces of the universe, but still, it was your decision to pull the trigger, not God's. Furthermore, if you fall off a building and hurt yourself, you can't blame God for inventing gravity, cause that would be silly, that would mean you'd prefer to not have gravity and float away in outerspace.
But remember, the will itself is free, the willed actions are fated.
Only God is free of the forces of fate because he is the supreme force.
So the only way to free yourself from fate is to place your mind on God, which frees the will, and the will in turn frees the mind.

God isnot punishing us. God has laws for us to follow and knows we will sin but it is up to us not to be punished by repenting of our sins God knows we will do. Odd? not at all- makes total sense.

The free will that God gave us has been used to justify and condemn and many other things, BUT the only free will that we truely have from God is the ability to accept or reject him.
All other things that we do and call free will are really just a result of the initial act of accepting or rejecting our creator.
God knows what we will do if we accept him and he also knows what we will do if we reject him.

God gave us free will, as he wanted us to follow him on our on accord, he didn't want robots. He knows that we will sin, he wants us to learn from our mistakes(sin) and to ask him to help us to do better next time.
It is through our suffering that we seem to keep reaching out for God not when all goes well for long periods of time.
God is not punishing us, and it hurts him to see us go through pain as it hurts a parent to watch their child go on a track that leads them into trouble
Remember that God loves you, if you accept him in your life you will be blessed, you are one of his children

This depends on your religion/belief. God gave us the free will to act, but He know what goes on earth (all the galaxies) since it was created till the end of time....He knows what we will do but does not direct us to do it.

Actually no, freewill bud, nice try though.
You have the choice to love or hate, which one is it?
So what if God knows the ending, how is that relevant to you?
You don't know the ending is what counts.

Good question. But we all make the choice to do wrong. No one is making us lie or cheat. It's all on our own volition. You can choose to stop yourself before you "commit" the sin.
