London has a standard fare rate no matter how far you travel on that one bus. It is cheaper if you get an Oyster card. Other areas operate a huge variety of fares and its impossible to give you prices.
The site below will give you info about London fares ONLY.
The second link is for National Express buses/coaches which do long distance routes.

I don't believe in that 'Cockney' He doesn't sound real somehow. LOL Following the last mayor creating huge increases in the number of buses being run, new routes, increasing fuel costs, wage rises etc bus fares are going up; however the rise is about 10 times greater than the inflation rate. Like all Tories Mayor Boris detests buses and the people who travel on them which is why at the same time as hiking fares there will be a 5% reduction in bus mileage in 2010. (Although the bus companies who operate the buses under contract to TFL obviously make a profit) the network as a whole has always lost money. Of course that is irrelevant because the value of good public transport to the London economy and the lives of Londoners, is immesurable. Dear Londoners you were fools to vote out Ken Livingstone

There is no national information centre providing bus fares. The national coach companies http://www.nationalexpress.com/ and http://www.megabus.com/uk/ can give you routes and fares on long distance intercity journeys. Bus fares within London can be found http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/ and will be cheaper if using an Oyster card. If you want local bus fares for other regions and cities, you need to speak to the bus company that operates there.
