Shouldn't God be beyond words?
But the holy books are full of words..
They try to explain God using words..
Even personifying God (like a man who punishes, envies, gets angry...etc)

He is indescribable, however, the Infinite God, desires to reveal Himself to finite man. He must find a medium to relate. One such medium is His Word.

God is ineffable. The only way humans can start to understand His existence is by His Holy Spirit inspiring certain men to write what He wants us to know. We will never fully understand God because if we do, then we are God. And we will only always be human beings, a part of His great creation. God is made of 3 Divine Persons, Father (our Creator), Son (Jesus, His Son that came to earth in human physical form; our Redeemer and Savior) and Holy Spirit (our Advocate). We call God "Father" and a "He" because when He revealed Himself to Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses, etc. they all referred to Him as "He" and He told them that He was their Father. And then Jesus told us about His Father.

He rewards the faithful and punishes the unfaithful. He gets angry when we continually sin, He gets upset when we disobey, He becomes happy when we obey and rejoices when we have faith and tell others about our faith in Him. But you have to stop seeing Him as a human man. He is only Divine, Almighty, All Powerful, a Spirit, Perfect, Love, reator of all things seen and unseen, etc. He can do all these things because He can; because He is God. He is ineffable.

No, the true god would want us to know about him and he went to a lot of trouble to preserve the bible for us to be able to do that.
God does have a personality and the bible shows that by saying those things. It only makes him more approachable in prayer.
Basically he made us and loves us and wants us to get close to him.
