I am from Ireland and have been living in the States for about ten years. I dont have bad credit - I have no credit at all, which seems worse then having bad credit.
What is the best way to establish some credit history??

Get a credit card to make small purchases and pay it of each month. A second strategy is to get a credit card and pay it off over a 6 month period. You could also get a small loan(about a $1000) and put it in a savings or checking account with bill pay options and pay the loan off with the loan money. The only thing you will lose is a few dollars in interest payments. It will be worth it in the end when your paperwork is not kicked back for low, no, or bad credit.

I suggest going to the bank and try to open a credit card account, they are probably not going to give you to much credit, but its a start.

Go to the loan and try to get a small loan. Once approved, put the money into savings and make your payments from the savings account.
