Your local McDonald's, with its hard plastic seats, was designed to move customers in and out fast. But now, with mood lighting, trendy artwork and fireplaces, it will convey a new message.
After 50 years and billions of customers, the fast-food giant is getting a face-lift.

Plasma-screen TVs, soft couches, coffee tables and wireless Internet access are just some of the new features customers will begin to see at their local McDonald's.The iconic red or brown "double mansard" rooftops — designed to catch the eye of passing motorists — will be replaced by something more sleek and modern.The traditionally kid-focused, kid-proof, interior is now decidedly grown up. There's mood lighting, trendy artwork and fireplaces.

Yep, I work at McDonalds and our lobby has been closed down for a few weeks while we remodel.

It's coming along REALLY nice, I love the way the new remodel looks...especially with the Flat-Screen TVs and new playland.

If they don't improve the food, no amount of "ambiance" will help. The only reason Micky D's is still in business is the millions of tots that don't know any better and their parents that give in to them. As far as I am concerned.......McDonald's is at the bottom of the "fast" food chain.

McDonald's will always be McDonald's. I cannot stnad the smell of their food let alone eat it. I go in to a mall where one of their restraunts is present I can smell it. Yuk!

i'm from Canada and our heres are still crappy. but when i went to Niagra, NY to do some shopping in outlet malls, i went to a mcdonalds like that there. It was really nice, I go there everytime i am in the states now... it is like a tradition :P

Basically, I am NOT really concerned with the decor...

Is the food safe (and reasonably nutritious)?
Is the restaurant CLEAN (especially where I CAN'T see - food preparation areas)?
Are the prices reasonable?

THAT'S what I'm concerned about...
