he could not read or write. i asked my muslim friend about this and he said that was how muhammed got away with marrying aiyasha at the age of 9.

muhammed kept protesting that she said she was 18, she was 18, she was 18! when the cops asked him if he had read the date on her birth certificate muhammed said he couldn't read.

and THAT'S how he got away with marrying aiyasha!

Yes, Muhammad (PBUH) was an honest man, but he was illiterate, or what they call in Arabic "Omiyy" - someone who can't read or write / unlettered.

That's why it's a miracle...there's no way he could've come up with all the fantastic and divine poetic text of the Qur'an, the accurate accounts of the Prophets before him, the precise description of the science of the world around us, and other divine concepts...

Whatever people say to the contrary, there is not doubt at all, that something "out of this world" happened in 610 AD in the Cave of Hira, on the Mountain of Light, near Mecca...

Yes. This is why the Quran is regarded as a miracle because the prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) could not have written something as remarkable as the Quran.

From the historical info we have on him, yes, it's true Mohammed was illiterate. For that reason, he was also known as the 'unlettered prophet.'
