Hey
Where IN LONDON can I get a nice but cheap ring to use for proposing? I will then obviously go shopping with her for the real thing, but just want to use something for the actual proposal. Or is this a bad move?

NOTE THAT I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTS, BUT DON'T KNOW HER SIZE - SHE DOESN'T WEAR RINGS CASUALLY!!! I'D LIKE TO BUY THE REAL THING, BUT HOW TO FIND THE SIZE????

It doesn't have to be a real diamond, that's not what matters.

I wouldnt go with cheap the ring that you give her is a symbol of the way that you feel about your relationship. Myself the whole being in london thing is a good setting but if she found out that it was a really cheap ring and that is all that you thought about her and your realtionship it might not be the fairytale ending that your hoping for. my advice is wait until you can get the right ring that you feel best describes you and your love for her and make the moment special for her in other ways. I know that I would like this so much better myself then just london and a cheap ring. Myself I am not all about material things but hun believe me cheap is not the last thing that you want your girl to be feeling when she is thinking of the love that you have for her. just my advice but good luck and I am sure that what ever you do it will all be good. best of luck sweet pea :)

DO NOT buy a cheap ring to start with, if you know what she wants then get that, as for sizing, take a guess, if it doesn't fit you can always get it resized, most jewellers have websites that you can browse through to find the perfect ring. REMEMBER she will not be looking at you when you propose, she will be looking at the ring! i know it sounds harsh but thats the truth, so don't be cheap on it, trust me, it will matter!!

I'm not sure where you can get a cheap ring in London. I think it's a good idea that you want her to be involved in picking out the ring though. Maybe you could get something with her birthstone or something like that for the actual proposal.

I think you should choose the "real thing" for the proposal. Why spend money on a proposal ring if you do plan on buying her a "real" ring right after? My fiance picked out my engagement ring, surprised me with a proposal and I was THRILLED! It meant so much that HE chose the ring for me... I had nothing to do with it.

Usually rings come in an average size, so your chances are pretty good. Propose with the real thing - it's special if you choose the ring yourself! My husband picked the most beautiful one for me!

I feel that you buy the ring that she wants and then get it sized later. Or you can always propose in a jewelry store, can't go wrong with the size there. You can tell her anything to get her in the store and then drop down on one knee! Good luck!

Yea thats a dumb move you r gonna end up spending more than u bargain for a engagement ring all the money is supposed to go toward the wedding ring...why dont you just go shopping for something nice the first go round and then lose all your hairs about the wedding ring...i wouldnt marry you if u asked me with a ole cheap just for the moment ring...

Well normally the ring you present for the proposal is the ring your beloved will wear. Personally, i wouldn't replace it after, it's not the same thing. You got down on one knee for the cheap ring but not the other one? i would get something nice from the start.

You could sneak one of her rings from her jewelry box, and get the same size. Don't worry about the size too much though, most people "have" to just guess in order to keep the surprise... and then resize it later. Good luck with your proposal!

Go for it with the cheap ring but let her know your plans to get her the ring she wants. If you need her size, take one of her rings that does fit her and put it on one of your fingers and remember where it stops on your finger, then goto a jewler and use a sizing ring . I did this and it was perfect.
