I'm not sure that I understand your question. If God calls a person to an area that is new to them then He will make a way for them to be successful in serving and honoring Him. He doesn't call us to fail but to glorify Him.
As to just trying anything new, as long as it isn't a sin God will be with a believer. Jesus said:
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

As a new creature in Christ, I am going to be doing new things all the time. God doesn't want me to fear...but to pray and ask for guidance and direction and then act accordingly. (Of course, it would not be in the will of God for me to do something illegal or immoral.) If I make a mistake, I can always choose another direction....God is not going to punish me for trying different things as I grow and change. I need to step out and take action to experience the rewards that change can bring.
