Go in what first there is no we are the first to go stuff in the military. It depends on the mission who is the first to get into combat. If it is a amphibious objective the first on the ground would be the USMC if it a airborne or air assult objective it would be the ARMY. Most of the time the Special forces would already be there and that could be Navy Seals or Army Special Forces and either would have Air Force on the ground with them to call in air strikes so there is no correct answer to such a vague question.

In the Gulf War, the US Air Force bombed the hell out anything and everything before Special Forces went in, and then SF took out SAM sites and AA batteries so the Air Force could bomb the hell out of the remainder. Other times it's Special Forces followed by the Air Force., then Marines. The first full-fledged force on the ground for an actual battle? The Marines. Early recon/strikes avoiding conflict? Special Forces. Blowing everything back to the Stone Age? Air Force.

Usually either the long range Air Force bombers or the air wing of the Navy off of carriers. As far as ground forces, probably some kind of special op unit to take out sensitive targets to start the war. First sizable numbers will be the marines follwed by army rangers then the army GI.

I would not believe these anwsers. as a sailor in the U.S.Navy, i have been around and met may people. The SEAL teams are over there before we even know that we are going to invade. the airforce does not do as much bombing as most people think. did yo knwo the navy has more planes and bombs than the airforce? and we are the closet one to the land. just remember, there are many things that go on that most people will never know that our special forces take care of before the rest of the military comes to play.

Well, actually it depends on the job and definition of going in first. In Gulf War 1, technically it was the 101st air assault division. The Apache gunships of the aviation brigade knocked a hole in the Iraq radar network. Then everything else followed.

I would say the air force. They usually attack from the air first to take out strategic targets that might harm a ground unit. If you're looking at infiltration though, then special ops would go in undercover first. Typical war though scenario though, I'd go with the Air Force.

Ignoring branch parochialism, the best answer is "it depends" or "all". Depends on the enemy, mission, political situation, geograhy, terrain, etc. I would guess that special operators and CIA are probably first in and spec ops are comprised of all branches of service.

Depends on the mission as dictated from the National Command Center as to what service can best accomplish the mission.
