Dominant philosophies is even a warlike action. If one philosophiy is picked by an alpha, then all the followers will adhere to it, and those that are opposed will suffer. Iregaurdless of the philosophies original intent. It is in the humans nature to explore and to claim.
Some choose not to follow bad philosophies, hope springs eternal.
(an alpha is like the head lion of a pack, or the momma bear in charge of her territory.)
Survival does not require war or evil.

Man (generally not specifically) does not seem happy unless he's in dispute with some other person. Wars are a sympton of the fight for supremecy that man craves. I believe that it is man made evil. Divine Incompetence would be something of a paradox don't you think, as divinity also implies perfection.

You are right, we are like you have experienced us to be. Perhaps that is exactly why we are not divine! All we can ever do about it is to try, one person at a time, to overcome our natural tendencies to want our own way about every single thing, aiming at the Divine.Personally, I am always surprised that the Divine have put up with us for so long.

If you have he delusion that by following your book you will live forever. And you know that by following the book your kids will also life forever. Then you will react strongly when someone threatens to teach your kids to not believe in the book. If religion had a single thin leg to stand on it would not be necessary to put unbelievers to death. But it does not and they do.

Chuang-tzu said:
there is nothing in this world which is not good, and no point of view which is not right.

A Buddhist view is:
there is nothing in this world which is not bad, and no point of view which is not false.

Both are true, in their own way. And so I use both.
