Arent cutting and acupuncture in the same ballpark?

It's a good question, as self harm is often a way for someone to relieve some sort of pain, as is acupuncture.

I self harm, and have acupuncture to try and help my mental health problems. I guess where the difference lies, is that acupuncture is undertaken to try and heal using ancient medical techniques, where as cutting is done to harm the skin, and whilst it can be a quick fix, it is not truly a remedy.

I guess it's no different from asking if it is in the same ballpark as undergoing elective surgery. Perhaps the only difference lies in peoples perceptions of what is acceptable and what isn't.

No! well the thing is that I'm not familiar to the cutting stuff, but I say, acupuncture is suppose to press a specif point in your body such as junctures and nerves, and it uses precisely the nervous system to spread the curative sensation trough the body.

If you mean "cutting" as in injuring yourself, NO they are not the same.. For one thing, acupuncture causes minimal to no pain when the needles are inserted & it's for a curative cause. Slicing yourself is a mental condition & you need therapy & a prescriptions to stop this self-destructive behavior.

cutting is caused by a psychological disorder.

acupuncture, done for health reasons, is a traditional chinese medical treatment.

The only simililarity between the two is perhaps (if you really, really stretched the issue thin) is that acupincture is said to be done in order to ease physical pain.
Cutters claim that they cut in order to ease the pain of the mind.

I really don't see a difference...actually in some sense it is different. I personallly don't believe in Accupunture...For me, I believe that if you do any type of body puncturing is just not I call good. But others do. Which is fine. We are all entitled to our feelings about these things...but this is a personal thing....you should. Those should be their decisions. For me it is not good decisions, as I am following God's desire for us to keep oureslves like a temple...to keep ourselves good so that we can be someone's goodness,

????????
As in self mutilation?
If this is what you are asking, definitely not.
With accupuncture, you are seeking a healthy goal, such as relief of pain, etc....

Self mutilation is destruction of the body, not a healthy goal.
