Um - the p.c. one is "Airborne!" No, we never hollered "Geronimo!" either during jump school or during an actual combat jump. Most of what we said was/is unprintable...and much of what was/is said about us by legs (infantrymen) is also unprintable. Like, what two thing fall out of the sky? Bird s*it and paratroopers! Except when we heard that, we'd land on their heads! And we weren't barefoot at the time!

"Geronimo!"
1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry. Stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. They are the army's dedicated opposing forces (OPFOR). Also known as Geronimos, they hold the reputation as the army's most hated unit. The 509th is the oldest and most decorated paratroop battalion in the United States Army.
I straight cut and pasted the above info. According to recorded tradtion there is your answer. "Airborne!" and in cadence "Airborne all the way! Hoooaah!" esp. in jump school is more used now among other colorful language showing lack of character and moral integrity and usually lack of intelligence by most so to speak tuff guys that are crazy enough to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft. The the most used modern day yell is HOOOOAAAH! in general and that is also used with slighly different inflection and voice variation by many other service men in all branches.
--formerly, PFC Courage, US Army, Airborne, South Korea, and 82 Airborne Div. 92 R= Parachute Rigger! "Yea, it'll fly, sir." Served-98'-02' / 25+ jumps , no more jups but I still hit the ground running! Hooaaaaah! I'll defend her still today, to our boys in the feild, I'm at your back and I'll wipe out the enemy on the home front, If you have not the power to defend and fight your not a citizen you are a subject, BE A Citizen, and vigilent in your freedom.

GERONIMO! was the cry of paratroopers during WWII. After the war, the cry was forbidden because it was a bullet magnet.
The story goes that Private Aubrey Eberhardt, a member in training of the first experimental unit, the Parachute Test Platoon, originated the cry. Eberhardt and a few friends went into town to see the movie "Geronimo". On the way back to base, his friends asked him if he thought he would be able to make his very first jump, scheduled for the next day, without fear. He said he could, and to prove it, he would yell something at them as he jumped. Thus, he and the cry of "Geronimo" became a part of history.
The 1st Battalion(Airborne)509th Infantry, stationed at Fort Polk, LA, took the name of "The Geronimos". They are also known as the most hated unit in the Army. They are the oldest and most decorated Parachute Battalion in the U.S. Army.
For more details regarding the origin of the cry and its evolution, see the site listed below.

101 st is Air Mobile the "Herd" 173 rd is a real AB unit ;-+ No one I ever met has ever heard any real person using Geronimo. They have copied Daffy Duck with "mother"; "oh-shi*; but the most common is "Airborne or Airborne -All the Way".
God Bless you and the Southern People
