It depends on the ages you are talking about.
The age difference between a 10 year old and a 16 year old is very significant and wrong. But, that same age difference at ages 18 and 24 is getting better, and by ages 30 and 36.....they don't even notice the difference.
There is 12 years difference between me and my hubby and we don't pay any attention to it (we are 51 and 63).

it all has to do with the age the 2 people are at. lets say there is a 5 year difference. would it not be more acceptable for a 29 year old to date a 24 year old. or a 15 year old date a 10 year old. the older you get the less significant age difference is. it only matters if you make it matter by things such as sexual tension and such... but on a whole if you dont want it to matter it wont

It depends on the ages. If one of you is 14 and the other is 19, then yes, it makes a really big difference. If one is 20 and the other is 30, some difference, and if one is 30 and the other 40, not really.
It's about stages of life you are in,, ,and not so much just the years.

I agree with most of the answers listed below when they say if your above 18, it doesn't matter.
I know of a couple who have been married for 18 years, and she is over 20 years younger than him. It's a cool relationship.
Just remember the age difference will bring individual changes which the other partner may not be accustomed too.

The age thing doesn't matter so long as both are over 18.
I'm 33 and she's 22 and we have a blast!

It doesn't matter at all. these unwritten laws that say you have to go out with someone your own age is an example of how present society tries to control human nature. If you love someone and they love you it shouldn't matter what ages you are nor should it matter what society thinks.

To me no, but if they are really younger than you and you know you have nothing in common then it matters.
