When at my cousins house I have noticed that she still keeps her 6 year old boy in baby diapers and even seen her give him a bottle at bedtime...She keeps his bedroom still like a nursery changing table and all...I want to say something to her but am not sure it is my place?????

It sounds like she is having trouble letting the baby days go. I wonder if she has other children. I also wonder if she has him in a crib.
I would maybe bring up the conversation with the child not in front and see why she still does these things.
The diaper I can see, or pull up if hes wetting the bed, the bottle at night is not a good idea cause thats probably the reason he is wetting the bed in the first place ( if thats the case).
I guess hes a normal child for you to be asking this question but I dont think you would be out of place if you asked or comment on it.

Yes, it is your place. You are family. Is the boy normal, not mentally delayed or anything? At six years, I would think he himself would object mightily. He should have been out of diapers around 3 and not on the bottle by maybe 2. Good grief. You need to intervene, before the kid is totally ruined. Is he in school? Actually, you should call CPS for some guidelines.

If you think she has some kind of problem herself that might be traumatizing or hindering the childs development then you must say something. If adults don't protect children then who does?

However, being diplomatic will probably cause less conflict but in the end if you help a child who cares.

I know a lady that kept putting her child in diapers just because she didn't want to have to take so many potty breaks with her child. Isn't that horribly lazy on her part and degrading to the child.

If the child has no medical problems he has a much more serious problem. The mother has issues. She wants him to remain an infant. This is mental & emotional abuse. Even worse then being hit. What does this do to him now that he is school age. He is going to be so scarred. Somebody better do something now for he isn't going to stay 6 very long. Children are not dolls they are people & deserve to know self respect & dignity. Self reliance creates those characteristics.

This is your place, if it worries you. Doesn't his school have something to say about the whole diaper thing? I know that there are certain daycares that won't take a child until they are potty trained. And for the bottle, does his dentist know or his doctor? They would have definate problems with that!! My sisters daughter would still be in diapers if it wasn't for my mom.

It's not your place, but as a family member, you're more than welcome to make comments to her. "He still needs a diaper?" "Wow, he's not embarrassed about drinking from a bottle?" She'll offer up her weird reasons and then you'll have the peace of mind of knowing you intervened in some way. The poor guy is being set up to be made fun of all through childhood (assuming that hasn't started already).

You need to say something. He is way too old to be in diaper, except maybe at night if he is a bedwetter and he really shouldn't have a bottle. He is way too old for that. A sippie cup would be okay for at night though.

Is this boy disabled? or is he a perfectly normal 6 year old? If he is normal, then I would definitley say something. But If he has problems, and is mentally or physically disabled, then maybe that is the only way he can be taken care of.

I would definatly say something to her!!..She is damaging her son mentally BIG time..You have to tell her to GROW up!!! I f she doesn't listen to you maybe theres someone closer like her own mother?...If that still don't work then I would bring in the big guns like child services..not to cause her trouble but to teach her how to parent a 6 year old!!

Is there a reason. Is the child developmentally delayed or can he use the toilet? It's certainly not normal. Ask her, just out of curiosity, why she does this. If he is developmentally delayed then maybe he is not toilet trained. As for the nightly bottle, that's wrong.
