I am looking into getting a pickup (specifically I am interested in a toyota). I notice that the "build" option on the local dealer website lists a new pickup as cheaper than many of the used ones currently available in this area. Where does this discrepancy come from? Is it a gimmick?

They're pretty accurate as far as the MSRP is concerned. A late model used one might be more expensive if it was a higher trim level with more optional equipment. You have to make sure you compare apple to apples.

Not very. It gives you a ballpark range, but doesn't include many fees that the dealership you buy it from has.
