They don't make a lot and they're pretty expensive.

One reason is that they are quite expensive. Other factors mitigating against sales of such hybrids is that they are not 'macho' enough for the average American male, plus the cost of gasoline in the USA is still way below a price at which people will seriously consider owning hybrids. However, if the present situation in the Middle East continues to worsen, and if at some later date Iran decides to flex its muscles, then oil supplies could be seriously affected and the sales of such hybrid vehicles will rise as a consequence.

They're selling like hotcakes. Many of them have a long waiting list to buy one -- and most are sold for a premium over MSRP. The manufacturers are cranking them out as fast as they can.

The reason you don't see everyone and their brother using them is because they run on battery........you are then charging it every night and paying for electricity instead of gas.........you also have to change the battery every few years or so which most people don't know and they cost thousands of dollars each.

Personally, I will not buy one until the dealers stop trying to capitalize on their popularity. They are jacking up the price beyond normal MSRP. I don't want one THAT bad.

I would buy one in a flash if I could afford one. I have to let my old car die first.
