I took a neighbor kid to the eye associates to pick up his contact lenses. At the end they charged the poor kid $100 simply for something known as the: fitting fee. All they did was show him how to put on his contact lenses. As they explained, the insurance will not pay for such fee because it is cosmetic related. How can it be? His mom said when she call them, they said that the contact will cost about $120 something, they didn't tell her there'll be a fee for trying & put the contact on, she might as well teach him that. The people at the eye assc. said that it's the law, that they have to teach the kid how to put it on. Isn't that a bunch of crap? Is there such law? Is there a way to file a claim against their irresponsiveness in not informing the clients about the services' cost?

Vista optical charges $60 for a eye test for contacts. I think the law is you have to have them check once or once every other year. The first time they show you how to put them in.

I don't know if it's a law, but the eye clinic can be held liable for damages if the kid did something wrong in putting the contacts in and possibly damaging his corneas.

All clinics that dispense contacts that I know of charge a fitting fee.
