Do NOT have a friend ask him for you. Guys look down on this, since it shows a lack of confidence. It is okay to have a friend tell him that you like him, though. It should be someone who talks to him occasionally already, and don't be obvious about it.
If you don't want to do that, just flirt a little. It doesn't have to be anything complicated, just make eye contact with him and smile. Girls are more attractive when they're relaxed and being themselves; don't go overboard, and don't stress out about it.
Guys like girls that like them. Once he starts to get the hint that you're interested, he'll approach you. If he's too shy to do that, he should at least start giving you signs back. You'll probably have enough confidence by then to ask him comfortably.

Try dropping subtle hints that you like him, but in the end you must let him make the first move. A man won't respect a girl who throws herself at him.

try to get to know him first just in a casual way then he better you get to know maybe he'll like you and you won't even have to ask b/c he'll ask you first good luck
