My boyfriend of a year and a half broke up with me 4 days ago because he "didn't love me", but yesterday, he started talking to me and said that things wouldn't work out between him and the girl he liked and that he was still interested in me, and went on to tell me not to wait around for him but kept hinting at our relationship. He was also touching my arm occasionally. What does he mean?

He's a loser and wants to keep his options open in case the other relationship doesn't pan out. I would move on and find someone who will love you.

Simple, the guy doesn't want to date you exclusively, but he still wants to have you around for safety. He dumped you for some chick, realized that it wasn't going to work, then realized that he needed the "backburner" chick. I.E. you. He is playing mind games because he doesn't want to commit, but still wants to have you around. Cut him off now, or he will keep doing this to you.

It just means you're his fail safe.. he's just keeping you on a leash in case things don't work out with another girl.

he means he's comfortable w/you and wants to come back if You want, hint he's too embarrassed to ask and more importantly his ego wants to see if you'll fall for him inspite of what he did and let him get away w/it, but any more than that only time can tell because it sounds like there are reasons why you guys broke up in the first place. he's obviously attracted to you so that's good for you cutie!

He likes you, but doesn't know what he wants. He is hoping you will still be there when he comes to his sense about you, but he doesn't think he will anytime soon and doesn't want you to wait around for him.
