They have been telling lies since ages. Only last week 11 US marines were killed in a single week. About 60 killed in a month. Is this winning war on terror. About 100 people are being killed per day on an average in Iraq. US is trying to wash it hands off in Afghanistan by gradually giving command to the Nato force, but for it there is no exit policy in Iraq. Change tactics or do whatever, the violence is going to increase by the day. Shia, Sunni strife, hatred against the occupational forces, gang, sect war, its a complicated thing. Recently Bush finally compared the Iraq war with Vietnam. I tell you, it will be worse than Vietnam for the US in Iraq.

Instead of focusing on tactics, the US should have a hard look on strategy. Good tactics, no matter how good they are, will not compensate for a poor strategy. The counter-insurgency strategy being used (and I don't mean "stay the course") is pretty much the same one we used in Vietnam; it is ineffective and inefficient use of our resources. Sweeps, cordon-and-search, raids, etc (basically trying to pound the enemy into submission with superior firepower) just don't work. Perhaps the military should adapt something from what the Special Forces and Marine Combined Action Platoons in Vietnam did. But I doubt they'd do that because the brass has the CRS syndrome (Can't Remember Shiet) and are Perfumed Princes.

Governments lie as they breathe. Firepower is not the answer in Iraq but God alone knows what is. The British fought the I.R.A (PIRA) for almost thirty years and until both sides began talking things were going nowhere. Tony Blair solved the problem by giving the PIRA gangsters practically everything they asked for, maybe in the end he and George will do the same in Iraq.

The tactic changes are a result of the last major offense in Baghdad that produced no results, and considerably more casualties than expected. Of course it did! Those damn fools in Washington blabbed their intentions around the world, before the plan was even executed.

This is the end result of politicians running the show, when it should be generals. Who in their right mind would announce their strategic intentions to the enemy, and still expect to be successful with the operation? Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, that's who!

You cant fight people with a belief that they have lived with and loved for soo many years.Weather the polls say they hate Saddam or Osama, their will still be someone just like them ready to lead the same cause against Democracy.Democracy something they never lived with or loved.
Democracy functions in such a way that, you need to answer to your voters, your people, the world etc.Whereas your enemy,in this case the terrorists, they dont.If someone is about to kill you,you kill that person first, right?in self defence
You cant negociate!! you need to be ruthless!!
And its impossible to be so....so in fact if Bush and Blair really want to win in every field, they have to be ruthless.Use all means, the US did'nt do that in Vietnam,so in the end even after using everything else besides nuclear, they lost!
In war against an enemy who is ready to die for something he/she strongly believes in,its hard to win, unless your ruthless.
So offcorse tactics have to change.

The tactics that are being used now are not working at all, because if they were we wouldn't be there anymore. The US/UK should of occupied the state of Iraq till the insurgency was neutralized.

War is Hell. Imagine if we chose to solve all of our daily problems by fighting about it. Fortunately most of us have the sense to use our brains.
