Norton 2006 startup scan?

I have a real problem finding where I can disable the Norton 2006 start up scan- their website was no help at all only listing earlier versions, I have a lot of files on my machine and it slows things down while I am trying to work. Thanks a bundle in advance for constructive advice.

Nortons is the absolute junk antivirus/antispyware suite in the world along with their friend McAfee. Not only are they a memory hug, neither program know a virus or spyware when it is right in their face. An if they do find one they are not deleted from your system as you may think.

Over nine years ago when I was not an expert with computers I let my engineer install Nortons. It was a real disaster. (I spend my free time testing antivirus/spyware programs an I can tell you nine years later Nortons is worse then before.

Any way so much for the above. If you open the main Nortons suite, trying say options, tools or any other icon in the program, after you opn look for start up scan and uncheck the box.

There has to be a tool, option etc. in the main part of the program to stop the automatic start up scan.

If you paid money for Nortons you may want to consider getting rid of the monister memory hog and plus that is zero security in my own personal opinion.

There are free programs that are 100% superior to Nortons like "Avast". http://www.avast.com This program I use in my back up computer an I never had one virus in nine plus years.
They will ask you for your email address as they need to send you a free key that is good for one year. After the one year you just request a new key. The corporate avast is the same as the free version. They just make corporate pay. Automatic updates two or three times per day. Excellent free support. And will scan your entire system. Plus if you open a webpage an there is an embedded virus, a voice come on over your speaker and tells you there is a virus on the webpage and it will place in quarantine.

Here is a program that is light years ahead of any antivirus program in the world. I use what the Government of China uses for their antivirus software..

Download any kind of program from zips, all compressed files, software files, music, etc,etc, an if there is a hidden embedded trojan,spyware,malware, this program will stop the download and clean. An will advise you to end the download.

Will even find a virus in the installer wizard, like "Wise Installer". And will stop the installation while it is being installed and clean. Plus this program always will trace back who installed the trojan.

I had a trojan in and wizard installer. Twister caught the trojan and stopped the installation. I wrote the origianl company and told them the wizard installer had an embedded trojan to steal your data. The company now uses thier own installer.

You can't beat this software for a one time purchase fee only. Actually I don't know of any antivirus progam that even comes close to this state of the art technology.

All I can say it is worth the one time fee. Your pc cost alot of money and you don't want it destroyed. Plus your privacy is protected at all times.

There is nothing in it for me to praise this program. I tell it like it is. If it is garbage then I will say so.

So many people have been burned use the removal tool or add/remove programs, then you still may have problems, if you can take it back to a restore time prior to installing it may work, otherwise, Completely reinstall window. Call Geek Squad if you have to this is a pain if you are not a geek. I tell everyone I know to get McAfee ( NEVER EVER NORTON) AVG Grisoft is very good and FREE. Not as good for people who surf alot, as McAfee. Pencillin by trendmicro is very good also. If you had Comcast Broadband, they give you McAfee for FREE.

Eliminate Norton, use windows live one care, its complete and does everything plus mor than NOrtons security suite!
