I just got a tattoo last sunday (october 15th) on my wrist. I actually got two, of shamrocks. Whenever I clean them color seems to come off and I don't even rub hard and I've been putting on A&D ointment at least three times a day. Now its to the point where it looks like the middle where the yellow is supposed to be has no color on it. I called my tattoo artist and he said thats normal and that it will look bad for about a couple weeks and then look good. Is that true?? It's hard to believe since the color keeps coming off.

the colour usually bleeds for a few days after you get it and colours like yellow and green take longer to brighten so i wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd wait till ur tattoo is completely healed and if ur still not happy with it go back in and ask for a free touch up

The color coming off is fairly normal. Not tattoo will stay the color it is in the first day. After the first week, the crust comes off and that is the final color of your tattoo!
I'm just wondering what you mean by cleaning! Because you are not supposed to put water on it for at least a week. Just ointment, two times a day! If you did put water, it's highly probable that you washed some of the color of and you have to get it done again.
Otherwise, don't worry! It takes a while for it to heal and look it's best.

Sometimes colors need to be touched up, and that should be free of charge. I have quite a few and sometimes my skin rejects some of the color for some reason and I need to get them fine tuned. First time it happened I was pissed, but when it happened the 2nd time with the same color, on a different tattoo, I knew it wasn't the artist. Don't worry, let it heal and just go back and have them touch it up. Like I said, should be free by the same artist

ok i have about 3 tatts so far! It happens all the time with mine! Nothing is wrong! If you feel that it's not the same color you want it go back in two weeks and have them put some more color in! It will look bad for a couple days because the extra ink is coming out! But it will look fine in a week or so! I'm goin back to get 2 more myself! But just calm down it's not that bad! If anything get it fixed in 2 weeks!

It sounds odd that the colour is coming off??

Are we talking about the scabs or what?

Yellow is the first colour to fade but it won't do that after a week.

All tattoos do look like they have less colour as soon as the scabs start coming off but if you keep up with the aftercare, the colour will remain.

I had my tatts done over 14 years ago and only the yellow parts have faded.

Go back in person to your tattooist if you feel that you need your mind put at ease.

Good luck :-)

First of all the A&D should be put on in the am and pm only. It is normal for some color to come off whenb it is new wash it an antibacterial soap and do not rub but pat it dry it takes about 2 weeks for it to clear up

Try not to touch it at all even when in the shower. It is normal for that to happen, the scab is coming off and takin the outside color w it, thats not a big deal. All the color that matters is on the inside. Try using this stuff called tattoo goo. It works very well. Or don't use anything at all. i never use anything on mine and they all still look great!

Your need to wait till it is totally healed. Minimal color transfer is expected, but it should not look as though you are loosing all color. After all the scabing is done and gone, you should be able to tell better what it is going to look like. If you honestly feel that the color is not as it should be, go back to the artist and have them fill the color back in.

The scab is probably starting to come off. I think u should get a second opinion. From another tattoo artist. What he is saying (the tattoo artist) doesn't sound wright i think that u should consult your doctor.

A little color should come off, but I have two that did the same thing and I had to have them recolored. I'm told that sometimes if they use natural, organic inks, which I thought would be best for my body, the color will fade easier. You may have to haveit redone.
