I am making some carmel apples and it says to "flick the candy melts" on the apple...what are those?

it's carmel squares ..that melt on the appl but they say candy because it could be chocolate kind or that red kind. of candy glaze for the candy apple.

You can't melt Carmel; it's a place in California. Caramel now, would be another matter. In a saucepan heat 1 cup water with 1/2 pound of white sugar and a knob of butter stirring all the time until all is melted and golden brown. Allow to cool until very thick and roll the apples in the Caramel.

Get a whole bag of carmel squares and cook on a simmering to low heat, and stick popsickle sticks in the back of the apples. Dunk them right into the melting carmel and then roll on crushed peanuts if you like. Set upright on wax paper while cooling.
