I got a new mouse toy at target(link below) and within the first 20 seconds of me cutting the tags off of it, he started growling and hissing when the female kitten approached him. Its a big mouse and he on the spot basicly said it was his. Anyway to stop this?

The behavior is normal. I suggest that you get several other toys for the other cat(s). After all the cats are smarter than you (or me), so it's your job to take care of them.

My 5 month previous kitten did a similar ingredient. There are a number of issues that made her stop. First I have been given a scratching container and each and every time she clawed something I picked her up and positioned her on the scratching container. It took a mutually as yet she stopped. yet another ingredient I did exchange into get teething toys so she has something to chew and whilst she'd chew my hand i might giver her one among those toys. whilst all else failed I rolled up a mag and tapped it on the floor. i do no longer hit her with it, yet i attempted the water ingredient yet she tries to drink it. Now all I might desire to do is pass in direction of a mag and he or she stops. stable success!

Although you can stop it, it is NOT a good idea to stop it! You can cause severe psychiatric trauma to the kitten. This is a sign that the kitten was taken from it's mother WAY too early. However, you should make certain that the kitten will share it with you. To do this, just take it from the kitten and hold it for a while before giving it back. However, to build trust, always give it back.

Well in the future, don't buy a toy for one cat and not the other. It's obviously jealous and also wants a present. Try simple around the house toys that cats can get hours of enjoyment out of like drinking straws or try rolling up a ball of tin foil, they love it.

I have two boys, one is a Bombay/Tabby mix - named Boo, the other is a Burmese/Tabby Mix - named Spooky, both are black. While each has his favorite toy, they seem to share them just fine. However, there are certain toys they don't share with each other. For instance, Boo has an old shoestring that I braided, that belongs only to him - and Spooky will not touch it. If he goes near it - a big wrestling match ensues. Likewise, Spooky has a "collection" of balls with bells in them - and Boo knows that they belong only to Spooky. If he accidentally bumps one, again - a wrestling match ensues. Cats are territorial by nature. Whenever purchasing toys for your babies, always buy two different kinds and let them decide who gets what. Just leave it between them and stay out of it.

This is common behavior with cats often. They are very possessive of toys that they really like. Usually after a few days they do get better.

My two kittens go WILD over pretend mice (... yet they pay no attention to our real pet mice!).

When we buy toys, we ALWAYS buy two of the same toy. We let them decide which is 'their' toy.

If someone steals the others toy, woah, step out of the way! Wrestle mania!

I wouldn't stop the behaviour, its completely normal and natural - and cute!

buy a second toy for the other cat.

would you only give 1 toy to 2 kids and expect them to only share that toy?

milk jug rings from top of milk gallons is another great cheap toy. mine has a collection of 3 of them and will bring me the color I ask for.

Pinch of cat nip inside a sheet of wadded up paper is another great cheap toy.....will be used for hours n hours.
