I am going to Rome and to drive around the country. Would love to feel it deeply. What except museums and historical places?

Hi,I'm from Italy so think I can give you some good advice.Well,Rome is quite interesting. For shopping visit Milan, the capital city of fashion. If you're interested in art, visit Florence. Also in Tuscany the city of Siena is said to be beautiful.Of course you can't miss Venice, where I live, the most romantic city ever. There are then planty of places to visit.Of course it depends on how long you're gonna stay here.Verona,Padua,Treviso all are close to Venice and worth a visit.Umbria, which is a county, has got wonderful views and landscape.I live in northern Italy and don't like southern side very much. But that's just because they are completely different from us here in the north.
Enjoy your holiday to Italy and if you happen to come to Venice drop me a line and we could meet for a cappuccino somewhere. It might be very funny!P.S. If you like the mountains,go to Cortina d'Ampezzo where I used to work.Apart from being the most expensive place to live in Italy (though affordable for a holiday)there you can get a view of the Dolomites which are undoubtly among the most beautiful and breathtaking mountains in the world. There I met a lot of Americans and people from all over the world who came to visit the place.Believe me it's worth it.It's almost 2 hours far away from Venice by car.

See you.

Hi,,, hmm,,,, are you from Italy?? or Europe??? If not, you might want to re-think about driving in Rome......unless you know how to drive the le mans.....

Also, you better watch out for the pickpockets and purse snatchers... that includes cameras and phones and backpacks!!!

or you will be feeling deep into your bank account to get money...

Good luck

Hi,

You should consider driving in the southern regions.
The traffic are more easy and its not as crowded as the mid and northern part.

And there are lots to explore in both Apulia and Calabria.

Have a look at this article focusing on car driving in Italy:

Anyway, I wish you a nice trip to Italy!

Go to the Vatican City and see the Sistene Chapel to see the best of Reinassance art and that of Michealangelo and Raphael. Trust me its heaven. There is also the great St. Peter's basilica and the The square there. Lots of history and culture.
