Without more information it's hard to say. The best thing you could do is speak with your primary care physican to start with. Express to him/her your concerns with your mood and the depression. They can then diagnose and/or treat you or they can reccomend another course of action such as seeing a therapist, psychologist or a psychiatrist for further evaluation and/or treatment.
I agree with the others on here that you may be living with bipolar disorder. If this is the case, don't be afraid to seek treatment for the disorder. There are many of us ot here living with bipolar disorder and functioning very well while in treatment. Most of us don't do so well when we are not being treated. That's what you should be afraid of. I, and my disorder progressed, until I was more afraid of me and the disease than anything the medications could do or the so called stigma. Turns out there is no stigma. Everyone I know (including my co-workers) knows I am being treated for bipolar disorder. They know how it was for me before treatment. They know how it is for me now. They actually like me now (avoided me before). Not only do they not think of me as being crazy, but I have found strong encouragement from them and congradulations for finding the help I so desperatly needed.
Only a doctor qualified in psyciatric medicine should disgnose and treat you. In my case I found a Nurse Practioner who is qualified and doing a great job manageing my medicines. She listens closely to me and even helps me make some decisions on the doseing amounts. She will make suggestions to me, she also lets me tell her what I think I need and why I think that. We work together to make my treatment as good for me as we can.
I hope you find the help you need and want. I have been working on a website for bipolar patients. It is far from complete but you are welcome to visit it if you like. The name of the site is Our Bipolar World. You can visit by clicking on this link.
http://www.ourbipolarworld.com
The site is 100% free. I offer nothing for sale. I give away a little of myself and my knowledge of this disorder. You may take from it anything you like and I hope it has value to you. There are also some very good links to other sites. All of them are also free, though some require registeration.
Sincerely,
Terry

Find out what makes you happy and stick with it. Why do you get depressed? I know how you feel I've been there with moodswings, going happy to mad just like that. but you need to find out what's making you depressed and get rid of that thing that's making you delpressed, talk about it or avoid it. Find out what makes you happy and just stick with that.

Try to rationalize things and separate yourself from the situation before you commit to an action or comment. Look at the big picture. Is your situation really that bad. About being happy, don't worry about that.

If everyone in the world lived by the golden rule(treat people the way you would like to be treated)(do unto others as you would like done to yourself) what a great world this would be.

Please go see a doctor before you get even lower moods. Its always best to check it out, as its more treatable in the earlier stages. that's if its anything.
