For most conditions that people nickname a "crick in your neck", a chiropractor can give you pain relief either temporary or permanent (depends on the cause) by doing Flexion Distraction on your neck or other types of adjusting. Usually, this is some manner of symptoms caused by degeneration of the intervertebral discs in your neck. Flexion Distraction is the treatment of choice for that.

massage therapy. rub your neck yourself if you have to. no heating pad! all that does is tighten the muscles. you need them relaxed right now.

lay on your back, and rub with the tips of your fingers, drag them down, somewhat firmly to the end of your neck. top to bottom, tips of fingers, then use nuckles, pressing not to hard, but enough to feel them in your skin. top to bottom. drag them down.

seated massage works also. sit backwards in a chair. pillow for your head, have someone do the finger tips and knuckles while you sit in the chair.

hard for me to explain how to do it - i am more of a hands on person/teacher. (i am a massaget therapist)

keep your head slightly tilted so the side where the pain is reachable. keep your head straight, so when the person is dragging their fingers and/or knuckles down your sore neck, they can reach the right spot and help relax your neck.

i hope this helps in some way. like i said i do better by actually being in a room and demonstrating. i have no idea how to type out what you should do. ha - good luck

Massage, sports cream, icepack/heat. Just allow it to heal, also take some motrin or an anti-inflamatory for pain. Rest and time will make it be better
