I am so fed up of this Islamic controversy but this is how it
feels isn't it? I don't like the way I am feeling at the moment
I have always been proud of this little island but I do feel we are
under threat. It seems that many people are actually at last
saying what they feel instead of holding back because of being accused of being racist. I live in a tiny town and when on shopping trips it sometimes feels as if I am the only one who speaks English, so what are the bigger towns like? My England is unrecognisable from the country it was 5 years ago. So becoming an islamic state is not beyond the realms of possibility.

I hope this country does not become an islamic state. I live in the States. Separation of church and state is an important concept. Europeans sometimes consider themselves to be more tolerant that Americans. However, many European countries have an official church. For instance, in the UK there is the Church of England. In Denmark, there is the Lutheran Church.
I believe our founding fathers got it right when t hey decided we would have separation of church and state, and I hope it always stays that way.

Don't think so. You have about 57 million white UK people here, reproducing at about the same rate as maybe 2 million Muslim people. I don't think we would get overrun.
Are we too tolerant? Australia and Holland are very tolerant societies, and it has never done them any harm or eroded their senses of national identity.
We need to stop the media acting like muppets, and publicising the fundamentalist nutters who give peaceful Muslims a bad name. Stop giving air time to all the mullahs in places like Finsbury Park mosque, and deprive these attention-seeking nutters the opportunities to spout their bile.
Flipside of the coin, institutions like the Daily Mail (Daily wail) need to rethink how they report on things like immigration, terrorism and Muslims in general. Their choice of words and phrases reinforce prejudices in people's minds. We need education, not narrow-minded soundbites.

I hardly believe that tolerance has anything to do how "we have become". No, I don't believe that we are going to become an Islamic state. We have never really become a "Christian state" nor an athestic state etc. etc.

If you are talking about the UK that is exactly what I am wondering. Are we going to change our religious beliefs and therefore all the women have to wear those veils??? If so then sorry but I am moving before I do that!
