You know the best way to name your pet is to determine its personality first. Once you spend some time with your new pup and watch the behavior then a name will come to you.
Unless you have a deadline date to get your pup registered with AKC, then take all the time you need to name your pet.
Snowy is a good name for any type of pet. It was my owl's name.

You should name it anything you feel good about- if Snowy makes you happy the dog will love the name too.

I've heard both cats and dogs named Snowy so I don't think it matters too much, its all up to you.
Here are some other names to do with her colouring that I have heard before: Snowball, Frosting, Snow White, Marshmellow, Sugar.

Snowy is a pretty ambiguous name. I think it can work for any animal. If you're still unsure about the name, what about Blizzard? If it's a girl, what about Blanca or Bianca (both mean white)?

There's a famous (cartoon) dog named Snowy --

So: probably primarily dog, though it would work fine for a white cat.
Other names? Casablanca. Eskimo. Google "white dog names." But I like 'Snowy.'
