Assuming it's dry (at less than 14% moisture) it will last virtually forever. It may try to grow a bit in the spring of the year but won't if it's dry. You can keep it anyplace you want as long as it doesn't get wet and stay wet.

The Indian corn you buy in a store is dried corn and is already preserved. It will last you for years.

I go to this bar and they have this indian corn hanging up for years and it looks the same all the time.
