Theodore Roosevelt once said "Any country whose people conduct themselves well can count upon our hearty friendship," he said. "Chronic wrongdoing, however, . . . may force the United States to exercise an international police power." Teddy didn't hesitate to use this "police power" to strengthen his country, but he was always careful not to upset the balance of world power.

This is still done today but with a "cover" since now it sounds politically incorrect.

I think you're making an assumption that controlling "wrongdoing" is the same as controlling the continent. Peaceful people aren't chronic wrongdoers.
If you want to look for evidence of imperialism, you can certainly find it elsewhere, but I don't think that quote it a good example of that intention.

USA is supposed to control the USA. Mexico controls Mexico. Canada controls Canada. Illegals all need to go home to their own country and stop acting as if they own what ever they want

So what is your point? You have presented a quote without any sort of opinion of your own. What are we supposed to make of this? It was well written, though.
