Try babycenter.com or parentcenter.com. They have a lot of good advice for separation anxiety and other problems. Good Luck.

I have a 30 month old. What your son is going through is totally normal at his age and may last several more months. Do not despair. Now my son is over his obsession with me and is starting to strongly identify with his daddy. He wants to play with him more than with me, so enjoy it will it last. You will be second best very soon! Give him a 5 min. notice before you leave so he can strat getting used to the idea. And as you are leaving, have your husband color with him or play a "Baby Einstein" or "Sesame Street" video that you will not let him watch when you are home. It will distract him. When you are home and he wants to be with you all the time, include him in your activities. If you are washing clothes, let him help you put the clothes in the washing machine. If you are cooking, give him a wooden spoon and a plastic bowl and let him "help you" cook, and so on. It may give you a little space even if he is still next to you. Good luck.

It's separation anxiety and it is just a phase it's totally normal.Your doing great by kissing and hugging him before you leave and not sneaking out, you may also want to tell him that you'll be coming back soon. I'm know you feel bad when you leave and he's screaming, but hey he loves you, and just have your husband or loving caregiver redirect his attention to something interesting and have them give him lots of hugs and kisses after you have left. He's a normal little 16month old.Just keep your cool and be very loving and patient with him.

I could be wrong but I'm guessing he was nursed and is now weaned, but probably still looks to you for comfort. He's probably teething and will be fine once his teeth come out. What's his comfort once you leave? Does he have something like a favorite stuffed toy or baby blanket? Maybe a pacifier that you don't allow him to use that he uses when you aren't around. If he's teething, try giving him something cold to chew on and see if he starts to focus more on the cold thing than on you. Good luck.

I have an 18 month old and he is the same. Once I am gone he is fine. It just shows how much he loves you and is attached to you so even though it can be a pain sometimes it's just a phase and won't last long. Good luck!

Nothing. Love him and give him as much attention as possible. I was like that with my first 2 sons and would get a little annoyed, but withmy 3rd son, I finally learned, Or matured a little more and realized that all he wants is my love and I spend so much time with him and yeah its a little hard to get some things done, but I just think, he is only little once and I really want to enjoy it!

Seperation anxiety if common at this age. Sometimes it is better to leave without making a production of it, not "sneakling" away but not announcing you are leaving. If your little one is redirected to something at your departure, he will be pleasantly surprised at your return. Enjoy the fact that he wants you around because he'll be oushing you out of the room before you know it!

My 17 month old is fairly independant, however we are also starting that whole "seperation anxiety" thing. Does your child attend daycare? Are there playgroups he can become a part of. This may help him move away from you a bit (not in a bad way) and develop some independance.

Tell him your are back when you walk in the door and try to spend a few quality minutes at that moment. Ask what he did while you were gone. Just involve yourself a little more. He is having some withdrawl anxiety.

Just separation anxiety. I know it's annoying as heck, and it will come back around age 2. But it does go away. Just be patient and loving to your child during this normal developmental phase.
