My Mum spent 6 hours at Barnet a&e with him, he had a 2ltrs of fluid flushed through his eye, and he has to stay away from TV and back up there again Monday, something to do with the membranes covering his eye, so cacti wasn't the best house plant, but then again he is 12 and not 5! Stay in touch silverbirch, and thanks for your concern! (Sue is my sister she is 43!)

I've just looked at your 360 page. I used to go to Hillside as well, left in '78. I lived in Borehamwood from when I was born until '86.
Hope your son is OK. It sounds like an allergic reaction he's got. The doc will probably put him on antihistamines. Show him the plant.

Bilmey, it was a long time ago!! Was she Kim? Or am I thinking of Kim Hunt, the year below me? Susan?
How's little'um?

There are over 2000 species of named euphorbias. Not all of them are succulents. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some are large and tree-like while many are small like cactus. They are found in Madagascar ,Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. They are sun-loving, and certainly prefer the warm to cold. They grown from seeds, cuttings, rhizomes, and sometimes even leaves. But care must be taken when dealing with these plants because they contain a poisonous sap, milky in appearance. Wash your hands thorouhgly after any contact.

Not the ones I know of. Besides, when ripe, you can make jam from the fruit of the pear cactus and when their leaves-nopales (or what ever you call them) are cooked they taste kind of like a green bean.
