You only want sympathy. Sorry. The relationship was falling apart before and you either made the wrong choice or wasn't wise enough to prevent it from happening. People drive their partners away by being insensitive to their needs, did this happen? You have to look at your possible errors. It is not to say you are to blame, but are there reasons why he might have left? A person can only do so much, and the next step is to change directions. It is true that he might have swayed on you too, but if that is the case, then you must look at possible reasons...Is he lustful (you made a bad choice)...is she better (how are you deficient?)....etc. By the phone call, he wanted to make sure you suffered, so you have been wrong about something. He would call you only to gloat that he is free of you...perhaps not for another person...but he wanted to say..."I'm Free!"

Next time he calls ask for the new girls number. Then call her and wish her luck because it sounds like she is going to need it being with this Ahole. Also thank him for leaving because you can now move on to a better life without him.

Dont let your curiosity get the best of you. If you know it's him, dont even pick up. And if you DO pick up, let him know that he's your X, which means you no longer need to listen to his nonsense.....Whatever it may be. I
n your sweetest voice, let him know that you dont need any more good luck. Getting rid of him was all the good luck you need.........bye.....and hang up.
Afterwhich, I would venture to say that he wont be calling you any time soon. :)

mabey he really wanted to still be friends or something. he was probab be nice, mabey he knew that something was coming for you and was telling you to have some luck..idk that part comfuses me.
