I would say that slavery was addressed as an issue of submitting to your authorities. The Bible preached the fair treatment of slaves. By the way, let's not forget that when the Hebrews were lead out Egypt, they were all slaves. So obviously slavery is not an Idea that God was fond of for His people.

I don't really think it matters what you see in the bible. Whether it's right or wrong, slavery is something that has existed for a long, long time. Just like conflict. I bet there's still slavery in some parts of the world.

The concept of slavery in the Bible is quite different from what we think of slavery today. Slaves in the Bible were more like modern-day servants (maids, butlers, etc), and were not to be treated by God's people as lower beings, as was seen in modern-day slavery. If a slave was treated badly, they were to be released. Also, a person was to be released from their slavery at the Jubilee year (every seven years). In some cases, slaves were treated so well that there was a provision whereby the slave could choose to have his ear pierced with an awl, signifying that they wished to be a slave for that master for the rest of their lives, and remain part of that household.

GOD never intended slavery to happen but it did, So He gave instructions on how it is to be done.
I guess we as humans matured and realized how wrong it is.
there are a number of things that the bible states is permissible or even commands but humans have abolished most of it why focus on slavery?

What makes you think it was abolished? Because they said it was? All that really happened is that slave management was restructured and effectively nationalized. A slave is now called a 'human resource' and is an internationally transferable property and asset of the state hired out to employers for private and business use for sums determined by income and employment tax which are fees payable to the owner. The majority of people are slaves.

You realize this is a loaded question and bound to get many in trouble before the voting even begins, but here goes....In those time slavery was accepted as spoils of war and such. When jesus came and died on the cross for all of us he broke the chains of slavery and made it a non accepted policy. Not to mention that it is simply wrong to treat anyone as less human than yourself.

He that endureth to the end (of law)

The GRACE of our Lord JC with you all. Amen.

Slavery was the custom at the time the Bible was written. God gave laws about how to treat the slaves. It does not say that we are to have slaves.
